What is Lumecca?
Lumecca is a breakthrough Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) treatment that uses a high-peak power to deliver more energy than standard IPLs. This allows for more effective treatment of pigmented "brown" spots and vascular "red" lesions.
The Lumecca Advantage: Faster Results, Fewer Sessions
Traditional IPL treatments often require 4 to 6 sessions to see significant improvement. Because Lumecca is optimized for high-peak power, most patients achieve their desired results in just 1 to 3 sessions.
- Precision Light Energy: The handpiece delivers a specific wavelength of light that is absorbed by the red and brown pigments in your skin.
- Photothermolysis: The light energy heats the pigment, causing it to break down.
- Natural Clearance: Over the next several days, your body naturally eliminates the treated pigment, revealing clearer skin beneath.
Lumecca for Ocular Rosacea & Dry Eye
Many people don't realize that facial rosacea often affects the eyes. Ocular rosacea can lead to chronic redness, grittiness, and Dry Eye Syndrome.
- Treating the Source: Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Charles use Lumecca to treat the abnormal blood vessels (telangiectasia) along the eyelid margin.
- Reducing Inflammation: By closing these vessels, we reduce the inflammatory cycle that causes dry eye discomfort.
- Clinical Safety: As eye care specialists, we prioritize the protection of your vision while delivering maximum aesthetic results.
What to Expect During Your Treatment
What does the treatment feel like?
During treatment, there will be a bright flash of light and a sensation that feels like a light snap of a rubber band. Most patients find it very tolerable and do not require numbing.
Is there any downtime?
There is minimal downtime. Redness and a slight warming of the skin are normal after treatment and usually subside within an hour. Over the next 24-48 hours, you may see a darkening of pigmented spots; in the week following, the pigmented lesions will flake off.
When will I see results?
Sun damage and skin complexion results can be seen a few days after the first session. For vascular treatments (spider veins), results are typically seen within 1–2 weeks.
